Ada Advances Major Sports Facility Park Projects and Infrastructure Investments

Ada continues to move forward on a series of quality-of-life and infrastructure projects funded largely through local sales-tax initiatives known as the “Penny” programs. Construction is underway on a major multi-purpose sports facility, park improvements are progressing, and street and utility work continues across the city.

New Multi-Purpose Sports Facility Under Construction

Work is advancing on a new 65,000-square-foot multi-purpose sports facility that will expand Ada’s ability to host tournaments and community events. The project is part of a larger investment package that also includes soccer fields, pickleball courts, and trail connections. City leaders have highlighted the facility as a key addition for both residents and visitors, supporting youth sports and economic activity generated by tournaments.

Wintersmith Lake and Park Improvements

Dredging of Wintersmith Lake is scheduled to begin shortly after the Fourth of July holiday. The work, supported by a Land and Water Conservation Grant and local Penny funding, is designed to improve water quality, restore depth, and extend the useful life of one of Ada’s signature recreational assets.

Additional improvements planned at Wintersmith Park include restoration of the historic amphitheater. Enhancements at Glenwood Park—sidewalk upgrades, fencing, and lighting—have already been completed with Community Development Block Grant support.

Street and Airport Investments

East Main Street reconstruction is scheduled to begin in the fall. The project will include new pavement, storm sewer, curb and gutter, lighting, and landscaping, funded through Penny 2 resources. Public Works crews continue smaller street and infrastructure improvements throughout the city.

At Ada Municipal Airport, east-side industrial development and related roadway work are progressing. Significant federal and local funding has already been directed toward airport improvements, strengthening the facility’s role in regional economic competitiveness.

Fiber Expansion Supports Connectivity

Broadband providers continue to expand fiber networks in Ada. Both Sparklight and Dobson Fiber have announced multi-million-dollar investments aimed at delivering higher speeds and greater capacity to homes and businesses. City officials note that reliable high-speed internet is increasingly important for economic development, education, and remote work.

Long-Term Funding Strategy

Ada’s capital progress is underpinned by the permanent infrastructure penny and successive voter-approved sales-tax packages. Current Penny projects represent roughly $72 million in investment, covering streets, parks, public safety facilities, and recreation. A new Central Fire Station is also under construction and expected to be completed this fall.

Residents can expect continued construction activity at the sports complex, Wintersmith Lake, and East Main Street over the coming months. City leaders describe the overall program as a deliberate strategy to enhance quality of life while preparing the community for steady growth.
